Advanced Fiber Products, (AFP), was founded
as a management buyout from the public company Stratos Ltd. in 2007, this
continuing 24 years of excellence in the field of Fiber Optic technologies.
AFP remains in the Haverhill UK facility.
The company’s roots extend back to the first independent mass production fiber assembly house in Europe, concentrating on global Telecommunications and Military markets and servicing such prestigious end customers as JDSU, Nortel, British Telecom, Telefonica, Marconi and Cable Wireless.
During the past 10 years the team has focused it’s capabilities to include pioneering technologies and novel manufacturing concepts required for the fiber assemblies used in all types of active and passive device packages, including products for new volume markets such as FTTx, Industrial and Medical. AFP has become the recognized solution provider for manufacturers seeking to outsource specialized fiber assemblies.
Company milestones have included:
| Mass telecom active device termination. Sub-contract connectorization featuring active test and verification in ESD and clean room environments. | |||
| Europe’s first vertically integrated capability featuring design, development and qualification producing high performance fiber assemblies from the optical ‘chip’ through to the connector tail. | |||
| The first independent fiber company to use CO2 laser ablation techniques to lens, cleave and shape fibers for patented sub assemblies. | |||
