AFP has developed a unique range of optical connectivity products for a variety of end user applications.
SM-MM Optical Media Converter System
The SM-MM Optical Media Converter System is a full duplex protocol independent 1RU system that will convert up to 4 independent channels of optical multi-mode binary digital traffic into optical, single mode binary digital traffic. Supported protocols include DS1 (T1), DS3 (T3), DNE Technologies CV-MCU2 Universal Converter Module, and 100 Base-FX. Download the Product Specifications
Secure 'Tamper Proof' LC Connectivity
AFP’s unique LC connectors are designed to prevent unauthorized and inadvertent changes in highly sensitive applications such as Datacenters and Secure IT networks where multiple physical layer classifications may exist. (Patent Application No.0903326.7)
The compact Uni-Body LC design plugs and ‘locks’ to any industry compliant adaptor or interface including transceiver ports, but cannot be disconnected without the use of a special keyed extraction tool. Eight different key configurations are available as standard options, color coded to match the connector key type. AFP’s LC connectors terminate with industry standard tooling.
The extraction tools also allow for easy manual connector removal even from very high density patch panels, normally difficult to reach. The connectors plug to both duplex and quad adaptors. An RFID tag can be embedded in the connector enabling ‘smart-patching’ and asset monitoring as an optional feature.
The RFID tagging can allow remote real-time change control monitoring of the patch panel configuration.
Complimenting the connectors, AFP also provides Secure LC Locking Port Plugs acting like ‘locking dust caps’ enabling empty LC ports to be locked closed against the unauthorized insertion of a cable assembly or connector. Only those operators with an authorized extraction tool can open a port.
Administrator ‘keyed’ extraction tools are also provided for unlocking all Secure LC Connector and Port Plug key variants.
One further product novelty is the custom dust cap requiring application upon connector removal from a port and hence promoting good fiber ‘discipline’. Download

Secure LC Connectivity Cable Assemblies
In addition to the connector itself, AFP provides a range of factory terminated high quality patchcord and pigtail cable assemblies featuring the Secure LC connectivity components. Behind The Wall 900um LC Connectors
Expanding AFP’s successful line of novel Secure Fiber Connector products (SLC), we are pleased to introduce the BTW 900um fiber version. The BTW Secure LC connectors used for 900um secondary coated fibers are designed to plug to any industry compliant LC adaptors or active device ports and cannot be disconnected without a special extraction tool. The Extended Keyed Extraction tool is a clip-on accessory for all the SLC standard extraction tools that allows accurate and easy 'remote extraction' of connectors in deep high density and access restricted patching environments.
