Dr. David Simpson – Non Exec.
David Simpson has served as a director since October 2007. Professor Simpson served as a director of Bookham Technology plc from March 1995 to June 2004.
Professor Simpson became the Vice Chairman of Bookham Technology PLC's board of directors in August 2000 and, before assuming that position, served as the Chairman of the board of directors of Bookham Technology plc. Prior to joining Bookham Technology plc, Professor Simpson was employed by the Gould Corporation, a manufacturer of electronic equipment and components, in Chicago, Illinois, from 1976 to 1986, serving as its President from 1980 to 1986, when he retired. He was also a CEO and a founder of Hewlett-Packard, Europe.
Professor Simpson also served as Chairman of Mikon Ltd in 1989, that was the founding company of AFP company. He serves as the Chairman of several privately-held companies, including, Environcom Ltd, Conjunct Ltd, Freelight Ltd and MIMIV Ltd. In 1992, the Queen awarded Professor Simpson the Commander of British Empire (CBE) for services to the electronics industry.
Professor Simpson has received honorary doctorates in Science and Technology from Heriot Watt, Abertay and Napier Universities in Scotland, and he is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Edinburgh.
Ian Radford - Non Exec.
Ian Radford is an economics graduate and Chartered Accountant with many years experience advising companies in the electronics and biotech industries.
He advised on the start up of Stratos Ltd UK and remained as Company Secretary until its recent sale. He also advised and was a founding shareholder in Mikon Ltd.
He has lengthy and continuing experience advising multi-national technology companies on their UK operations.
