AFP’s proprietary CO2 laser cleaving technology enables high precision fiber cleaving at a wide variety of closely controlled angles in volume and at low costs.
Within a second the laser ‘cleaves’ the fiber tip to a specific angle using custom software and provides in-process individual cleave measurement and quality control of the finished product.
A computer controlled far-field visual system ensures angle, value and repeatability.
The laser based process produces ‘cleaves’ with highly controlled optical surfaces without any of the scratch/digs and defects normal for conventional mechanical and polishing technologies.
